Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Teachers seek to meet each child at his/her own level of development. They encourage those who are "excelling" to try new things and expand their knowledge through new experiences. Children who are "behind" are encouraged to work at their own level and excel through individual goal. Those who are "different" are accepted as a child of God with his/her own unique talents. All children are loved by the teachers and reminded of God's love for them as unique children with special gifts.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Holy Cross School seeks to develop a spiritual and academic setting that recognizes each child as a unique creation of God, one who has been forgiven through the death of Jesus Christ. In this context, the program serves to nurture the total child : body, mind and spirit. Holy Cross exists to support Christian parents in their God given task and privilege of educating their children."

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Parents receive a weekly newsletter telling the news of the week and upcoming events. We also have a parent-teacher league that meets once a month with special family events. Holy Cross seeks to involve the community in special events such as the fall festival and easter egg hunt. Parent/Teacher conferences are held twice a year to monitor children's progress and discuss goals, strengths and weaknesses. Parents are encouraged to call or email teachers with questions and comments about their child's progress.

Handling Separation: From the Director

Teachers conduct home visits before school begins. This allows children to get to know the teachers at home where they are comfortable before coming to school.
