Day in the Life

General School Mission

VERITAS CHRISTIAN ACADEMY OF HOUSTON Mission Statement Veritas Christian Academy of Houston ('Veritas') exists to support Christian families in their God-given responsibility to educate their children by providing a Christ-centered, biblically directed education that instills the vision and practice of excellence in academics, character, discipleship, and service to others. Philosophy of Education 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. And these words, which I command, you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children.' Deuteronomy 6:5-7 'Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.' Proverbs 22:6 'In whom [Christ] are hidden all the treasures of knowledge and wisdom.' Colossians 2:3 'Fathers do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.' Ephesians 6:4 The philosophy of Veritas Christian Academy of Houston ('Veritas') is based on a Christ-centered view that all truth is from God, and that the Bible is the inspired and the only infallible word of God, the final authority on matters of life and thought. Students will be taught that they are uniquely, fearfully and wonderfully created in the image of God. They will be taught to develop a Biblical worldview that integrates Christian truth in all areas of learning. Students will develop a godly perspective on humanity and the development of culture, articulating their faith in a compelling and effective way to influence the world for Christ. Rooted in our Christian faith and grounded in the love of learning itself, Veritas offers a challenging, time tested liberal arts program of study within a nurturing environment that encourages serious scholarship, independence of thought and clarity of expression. Veritas strives to develop intellectual excellence through the academic disciplines and every planned curricular activity. The goal of every learning experience is to enable students to reach their full potential in Christ. We hold firm to the truth that education is the primary responsibility of parents. Veritas serves as an extension of the Christian home, actively seeking to involve parents in every phase of the student's development. Home and school will seek to cooperate with each other to maximize the process of Christian education. To accomplish our task we seek: students who are eager to learn and willing to work; parents who are partners in our task; and, educators who are lifelong learners, called and gifted to teach, prepared to match precept with example.
