Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

"The accredited Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum, launched in 2001 and built upon the original school model, blends the two leading philosophies of teaching young children—the child-initiated approach and the teacher-directed approach—and balances this with character development and play."

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We use milestone assessments with all children in the school and a Bracken School Readiness Assessment with our 4 and 5 year old children. It is used to assess a child's concept knowledge and receptive language skills for school readiness:

* it shows how the subtests align to each state’s early childhood standards
* Record Form is designed for Pre- and Post-testing.
* Parent-Teacher Conference Forms that includes information about the child’s performance and activities the parent can do with the child at home.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

between learning and nurturing; self-discovery and guided exploration

between your family and your child’s teachers; classroom learning and experience learning

that leads your child toward lifelong achievement"

With measurable results, you can believe in our curriculum! Graduating Primrose students scored better than 90% of their same-age peers on a national measure of school readiness.

A Typical Day

Balanced Learning combines the two leading philosophies in early childhood education:

Our exclusive Primrose Programs, such as Mucho Mundo (Spanish), Thumbs Up (fitness), Rhythm & Notes (music) and Noggin' Joggin' (higher level thinking activities) ensure that your child will receive not only quality care, but a quality education.
