Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"The philosophy of the Weekday Early Education Ministry is based on our belief that God loves each of us. Every child is special and precious, and we are prayerful about our role in his/her life. His/her preschool years will only occur once. We hope to be a positive part of those years.
Our philosophy reflects a child development concept known as \"whole child.\" We feel that each child has five aspects of his/her being that we touch.

We plan that each child will grow in his/her knowledge of God and His love and care. We want our children to be aware of God's world around us. We teach that Jesus is God's son and that Jesus is their friend.

Through outdoor play and movement activities our children learn to use large muscles as they run, climb, jump, pull and push. Directed fun is a learning activity.

Through games, use of learning centers, artwork, songs, books, puzzles, blocks and group activities we provide opportunities for learning. We teach each child about his/her vocabulary and stock of information. He/she will soon know that learning is a joy.

Our desire is to help each child move from a home environment into a school setting by helping him/her mature in his/her reactions and in expression of his/her emotions. Feeling good about himself/herself and being able to communicate all feelings appropriately, even anger or sadness, are goals we enjoy seeing the children attain.

Staff helps the children work and plan effectively with their peer groups. Each child is encouraged to be kind, to share, to cooperate, to be helpful, and to accept responsibility as an individual and as part of the group.
