General Approach to Learning: Teacher-Led

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Hopscotch is a state licensed childcare and learning center. By choosing a program that has the highest standard of care, you have chosen a great future for your child. As a parent, you can feel safe and worry free in an environment such as ours. There is far more closeness between caregiver and child that there is in a larger group setting. This closeness gives your child a sense of security that is very important to their development and self-esteem. We work together with our families to make the first five years the most important years in your child’s life. Hopscotch believes that every child is unique and special. In creating our program, we have designed activities to provide for a young child’s creativity and discovery, encouraged in a safe and healthy environment where your child will feel that each experience is a happy one. Our program also recognizes that each child has individual needs and has the right to grow and develop at his or her own rate. We strive to meet these needs of each individual child. Our program emphasizes the individualization of each and e very child. Multi-aged programs have been developed for each child’s cognitive and social growth. In this type of program, your child will begin to learn and understand the basic concepts that will help your child develop through his or her life. In this type of program, children can learn and develop self-helping and self-coping skills. This encouragement helps the children to develop other skills needed throughout life. The children will gain awareness of other people’s feelings and to understand how their actions affect others. All children are taught to respect other people’s possessions and work. Children will be encouraged to resolve their own conflicts with each other by talking through their feelings and finding their own solutions. The days are planned, in advance, with educated activities through fun, to fulfill each day with new learning experiences.

A Typical Day

Infants (6 Weeks - 24 Months)
As a State Licensed high quality care facility, we are dedicated to providing your child a safe, healthy environment in which to grow and play. Our program involves gross motor and fine motor skills which are adapted to each child. Daily Activity Sheets are sent home with information on your child’s behavior and day.

Toddler Program (24 Months - 36 Months)
At 24 Months, your child is ready to explore and discover the world around them. Our Program will help the children interact with other children their age in activites such as music time, crafts, and learning activities. A Calendar is sent out each month filled with fun activities your child will be involved in. Daily Activity Sheets are sent home with information on your child’s behavior and day.

Preschool Program (3 - 5 Years)
Our program consists of letters, numbers, colors, shapes, and other preparations for kindergarden. Our children interact with other children through music, art and learning activities. Field Trips are scheduled throughout the year, along with a graduation ceremony before going to kindergarden. Children must be 3 years of age by September 1.

Latchkey Program (5 - 12 years)
Transportation to and from Sharpsville School District is available. Breakfast is served each morning before the bus arrives, and an afternoon snack when they return. Children also receive help with their homework.

Summer Program (2 - 12 Years)
Our summer program consists of different theme each week, with crafts for every age group, learning activities, and special snacks. Our program runs Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during our summer months.
