Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

The low teacher to student ratio enables the teacher to spend more time with those students who are developing skills at differing rates. Those who can be accelerated are encouraged to explore their interests. Those who are working at a different pace are given the time and encouragement they need to complete the task.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We conduct open house, room visitiations throughout the year. We use regularly scheduled parent teacher conferences. We offer sessions with an early childhood specialist several times throughout the year. There is a weekly family folder for communication as well as a monthly calendar distributed in the classroom by the teacher. The teacher is available for conference before and after school. Parents and guardians are always welcome guests.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

The teacher engages the child in the activities that are taking place in the classroom. The parents are encouraged to stay and watch then take their leave.
