Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

The School in Rose Valley, a preschool through 6th grade independent school, is a haven for children. In our play–based preschool we aim to preserve childhood by providing children with wholesome activities, ample time to explore materials and play inside and outdoors. Our staff approaches teaching and learning from a whole–child perspective. Teachers continually consider the social, emotional, cognitive and physical needs of children as individuals, members of their preschool group and as part of the broader SRV community.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The School in Rose Valley is a progressive school for children in preschool through sixth grade. In our classrooms and our wooded campus, teachers and students create experiences that arouse curiosity, stretch muscles, strengthen initiative, and stimulate questions. We guide children to know themselves, to delight in learning, and to understand their opportunities and responsibilities in our community and the world.
