Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

The 3, 4 and 5 year old is transferring from a young child into an independent and active learner. During a child’s preschool years, vocabulary, coordination, intellectual thinking and social skills are being developed. Our CHILDREN CENTRAL teachers are trained to provide the appropriate environment to help build the confidence preschoolers need to make decisions, develop talents and build self-esteem. At CHILDREN CENTRAL we record events through a variety of communication tools. Our Daily Communicator Program details the accomplishments your child has achieved in daily opportunities. The CHILDREN CENTRAL curriculum provides a continuous communication to parents informing them of their child’s daily and weekly accomplishments. We share this information with you throughout your child’s growing years during parent teacher conferences and when a child completes a classroom level of learning.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Small class size allows for individualized instruction; the children have the opportunity to work in small and large groups. Teachers do assessments and daily observations to monitor the student's progress. The teacher is then able to provide more challenging work for those excelling and is also able to work on areas of improvement for those that may require extra help or more individualized attention.

The CHILDREN CENTRAL philosophy is based on three meaningful words: Love, Learning and Understanding.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We have two formal parent-teacher conferences per year. Parents or teachers can always schedule additional conferences when needed. All teachers maintain written assessments and observations on each child so that we can monitor progress. Daily communication reports are provided.

Separation

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions

Handling Separation: From the Director

We work very hard to get the child involved in the daily activities and get their mind off of mommy and daddy until their pickup time. We also encourage families to tell their child that they will see them at the end of the day and to leave quickly without tears in front of their child. We also encourage moms and dads to call in to get an up-to-date report on how their child did after they departed and is doing throughout the day.
