The Centre's aim is to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment where all children will be accepted for their unique selves with no discrimination of race, gender, class, religion or uniqueness. We affirm that the children, parents and staff of the Centre's have the right to be treated with respect and dignity. Children deserve and have the right to consistent high-level quality care and education within our Children's Centre's.
The environment should invite, welcome and include all, and actively facilitate access to all. We seek to create a sense of belonging and encourage commitment and trust. We believe that family involvement and support is essential for the running of high quality services.
Aims and Objectives (Long Term Goals)
Swinburne Children's Centre's aims include the following:
To nurture and care for each child in a secure, warm and happy environment.
To provide an environment that allows each child to develop to their potential through a range of planned activities that are developmentally appropriate, are age/stage appropriate and based on the interests of the child/ren.
To ensure play emphasises learning through process rather than be judged by its product.
The program must recognise the individual needs of the whole child.
For staff to provide continual feedback to parents on their child's development and day, informally and formally.
Swinburne Children's Centre's objectives include the following:
To establish and maintain community childcare centre's for the care and development of the children.
To encourage the interest and involvement of parents in the centre's activities.
To operate the centre for the well being of the children and their families.
For staff to have a genuine role and choice in decision making, and feel involved and included in all areas of service delivery and development.
The staff team to reflect a diversity of education, training and life experiences. To demonstrate respect for individuals within the team, enhance the Centre's range of resources, and increase the benefits of shared knowledge and ideas, skills and tasks. "
