Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our philoshophy is to instill in the young people in our care a love for learning, that can only come from a feeling of security in the environment. We provide a safe loving environment that encourages personal growth and development in young children. We follow the guidelines set forth by our school district in our daily curriculum.

A Typical Day

In a typical 2 1/2 hour session, the children are greeted upon arrival, we proceed to the classroom where they particpate in a circle time follwed by structured activity. Each day has a specific theme, the alphabet, color, holiday etc. We include a bathroom break, snack, music, book reading and playtime each day.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We have 2 open houses each school year. We offer one formal parent/teacher conference, with the oppurtunity for others throughout the year. A quarterly newsletter for each class as well as monthly meetings for each class in which the parent is given the calendar of events for that month. It also provides an oppurtunity for dialogue with parent/teacher.

Separation

Handling Separation: From the Director

We have encouraged parents to follow their instincts. If that requires them to stay, we work that out. We offer a drop in day prior to school starting that helps to promote security in the environment for the child. Each case is different, so we follow what suits all best at that time.
