Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Mary Cassatt School of Art for Young Children offers an art and science based education for children ages 2½ to 5 years of age. Art based education nurtures a child's intellectual and social development through words, movement, drawing, painting, building, sculpture, collage, dramatic play, and music. Through these artistic mediums children make their ideas known, discover, communicate, and learn. Inquiry into the world of natural science acts as a catalyst, stimulating the desire to express through art a sense of awe and wonder. It is this moment of wonder we seek to capture and preserve forever in your children's artwork. Teachers act as mere facilitators in this process of discovery and artistic creation. It is of utmost importance that the child be the primary explorer and artist, following their personal inspirations and choices.
