"Our school is our philosophy. We have carefully constructed our program, using elements of what we’ve learned while working with children for many years. We have also studied child development, poring over many theories from around the world. These are some of the primary schools of thought that have influenced our methods:
From Piaget comes the idea of constructivism, which states that children are capable of constructing their own knowledge, and that play occurs in levels and stages.
From Maria Montessori, we apply the idea that children need work, and we believe that play is their work, along with age-appropriate tasks.
From the schools of Reggio Emilia in Italy, the recognition that young children have many ways to express themselves. That it is our job as educators to tap into those ways and engage the children in their learning.
