Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Jesus Christ, as revealed in the Bible, is presented as the Living Truth by which both the Godgiven truth of Scripture and the truths discovered by men are rightly understood. No subject area or school activity is considered outside the realm of Christ's Lordship. This philosophical position gives direction and purpose to the school. It describes what Santiam Christian represents, believes, and promotes. It is what makes Santiam Christian unique and special. The primary objective of Santiam Christian will be the training of young people in areas of knowledge that will allow them to understand clearly, think deeply, judge wisely, and have the courage to live their lives on the great principles and convictions of Biblical
truth. In completing our primary objective, Santiam Christian becomes unique in at least three specific ways.
1. SANTIAM CHRISTIAN SCHOOL WILL, WITHOUT APOLOGY OR
COMPROMISE, CONFORM TO BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES.
In order to meet this condition, the foundation and base for all curriculum will be the Bible. It will be studied seriously, and its truths will be applied both to our personal lives as teachers and students and to our administration and policies. Our school's policies and practices will always be honest, honorable, and fair to the individual student, teacher, and to the parents who sponsor it.
2. WE WILL NOT FORGET THAT SANTIAM CHRISTIAN IS UNIQUE IN
CHARACTER.
We are committed to the development of a school of the highest quality. That fact demands that we as teachers, parents, administrators, and students commit ourselves to the very highest goals of academic excellence. Yet we will recognize that in some ways we are limited. Our resources will not permit us to offer an extensive variety of elective classes. Santiam Christian is also not equipped to serve students who have special disciplinary or educational needs. While Christian compassion opens our hearts to the needs of everyone who desires an education within a Christian atmosphere, we are realistic in recognizing that we will not be able to provide for the educational needs of
everyone, so, we are unique in the curriculum we teach and the students we serve. We are also unique in the small school atmosphere reflecting the values of a community of believers who genuinely care about one another. We desire to see the development of the whole child brought about by individual attention and a sense of belonging not always present in large institutions.
3. SANTIAM CHRISTIAN SCHOOL WILL HAVE GREAT CHRISTIAN
TEACHERS!
We believe that a school rises or falls on the ability of its faculty. We will make every effort to ensure that all of our teachers are not only academically trained, but spiritually prepared to teach in our school and serve as role models. Therefore, we will seek, as the first requirement, that every one of our teachers measures up to this expectation."
