Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

We utilize simple assessments and observations at the beginning of the year that assist us in setting learning goals to assist students individually and in small groups to make progress towards reaching the goals and extending learning. We strive to use different types of activities to provide for all varieties of learning styles.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We give out activity calendars monthly with themes and activities. As parents drop students off in the morning or when we take them out after school we give a review of the day and alert them to any issues/ problems or celebrate progress. There is a spring conference to review assessments and guide parents through decision making process for future education plans.

Separation

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

Handling Separation: From the Director

Two of my children had severe separation anxiety so I understand a parent's heart - I have found that it is easier for a child to ease into the classroom when a parent doesn't linger but gives a positive, encouraging goodbye and leaves the child with the teacher to assist in getting the child involved in a classroom activity. I always assure the parent they can hang out in the building until they feel assured their child is ok or I will call after circle time to communicate how things are going.
