General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

Learning approach varies with ages

Day in the Life

General School Mission

We believe that children must first develop socially and emotionally to become well adjusted people. In our program, we stress these concepts in all classes/ages along with age appropriate academic instruction. We utilize the WEE LEARN weekday curriculum supplemented with theme based units, which includes field trips and school visitors. We have seperate classes and teachers for Music, Bible story and Motor Room. 3-5yr olds attend Chapel class weekly. Our extensive 3 day PreK program surpasses many in the area and is great preparation for 5 day kindergarten.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We have a monthly newsletter that communicates information about past and future events. Our open house is the week before classes begin - children receive an invitation and picture of their teachers two week before that date. We have a special evening "Daddy Date Night" in October to allow the working fathers to be a part of the ELP experience. Children are briefly evaluated in the fall, with a detailed evaulation done in the spring .

Parents Say They are Encouraged to:

  • Are able to visit the school anytime we want
  • Go on field trips
  • Volunteer in the classroom
  • Receive newsletters

Modes of Communication

  • Notes
  • Phone Calls
  • Voice Mail
  • Email
  • Special Meetings
  • Drop-Off
  • Pick-Up
  • Regular newsletter/printed updates circulated to the whole school

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Parents in classroom early on

Handling Separation: From the Director

We pay special attention to that child by drawing them into the classroom activities, ususually in a 1:1 ratio; extra comforting if/when they have difficulities adjusting.
