General School Mission

Gain positive self-esteem
Develop independence through choices in activities
Develop responsibility for behavior and belongings
Experience problem-solving through social interaction with peers and teachers
Acquire academic readiness for formal school
Enhance creativity through art media play, and movement
Develop physical endurance
Develop an awareness of the world around him/her "

A Typical Day

"Both morning and afternoon include the following activities with the exception of a special event such as a field trip or a sing-along.
Free Choice: The children are encouraged to be involved in all areas of the classroom such as book corner, puzzle center, blocks, housekeeping, fluids/water play, science, painting, and art and crafts to discover new things, to cooperatively interact and to promote socialization skills.
Opening Circle: A large circle is formed for planning, announcing helpers, alphabet presentation, and discussions covering topics including the calendar and daily activities.
Group Time: Teacher helps children with listening skills, following directions, and completing tasks through stories, fingerplays and presentations.
Learning Center: Children may choose from selected activities designed for fine motor development, sensory awareness and conceptual learning activities using books, puzzles, lacing, beads, games, etc. Activities are based on the theme and letter of the week.
Bathroom and relaxation: Children sit quietly and look at books or listen to records while awaiting their turn for the restroom.
Snack: A mid-morning or afternoon serving of a fruit, vegetable, protein, or bread product and a drink.
Closing Circle: Teacher-led music, movement, stories, creative dramatics, and favorite group games.
Outdoors: Children run, climb, ride and/or take walks.
