General Approach to Learning: Montessori

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"The philosophy of The Montessori Garden, Inc. is the transmission, curiosity and development of responsibility, independent thinking that fosters positive, self-discipline. In teaching children specific skills, we seek not to impart knowledge alone but to instill the life long habit of learning, questioning and relating to others. All this leads to the development of the whole person.

The education at The Montessori Garden is founded on the principles of the Montessori Method. Sustained throughout all programs the method provides continuity and cohesiveness at all age levels in the school. The principles are expressed differently according to each particular need and developmental stage of the child.

We recognize the parent as the child's first educator and as an integral part of the individual's total development. Through observation, parent education and a partnership with the teacher children are led to discover and apply Montessori philosophy
