Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"We believe that children learn best when they feel safe and secure. Children learn through 'hands on' play that focuses on their unique and individual developmental abilities and interests. Play is important work for children! At the core of our program is the support and enhancement of children's own ideas, feelings, and thoughts. Rhinelander provides a rich environment, focusing on the development of social skills and self-esteem, where children gain knowledge through active experience of the world around them. Through the relationships they build with adults and peers, children develop self-esteem to explore, to meet new challenges, and to develop a sense of individuality." (SOURCE:

A Typical Day

"In bright and airy classrooms, we provide ways for children to explore their environment, increase their socialization skills, and enhance their critical thinking abilities. Rhinelander's Nursery School curriculum incorporates children's interests as well as age-appropriate developmental activities. Our daily schedule includes time for individual as well as group instruction using a variety of hands-on activities at each of our learning centers. Onsite playgrounds provide a place for children to exercise mind, body, and spirit." (SOURCE:
