Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Teacher-Led

From the Director:

We allow all students to develop at their own pace and to move ahead when they are ready. We do not put limits on any of our students.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

All of our students are evaluated when they come to our school and we work on their weaknesses and their strengths.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The Hampton School is known for its widely acclaimed "Sleeping Giant Reading Program," which was written by the founder of the school, Kathlyn Messina. It has produced scores of brilliant reading students. Students begin to read at 3 & 4 years old and have the ability to read and write three and four letter words and beginning sentences. Kindergarten & First Grade students read at a 3rd and 4th grade reading level and have great comprehension skills.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Each classroom has their own website for the parent's to see what is going on in the classroom and to download forms or to get lyrics to songs that the children are learning. We offer report cards for all the students and we have an open door policy for parent's to come in anytime. We also offer parent/teacher conferences.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions

Handling Separation: From the Director

Parent's are encouraged to stay as long as they need to if their child is having a hard time separating from them.
