General Approach to Learning: Montessori

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"All fields of study begin with orienting the child to the discoveries made by previous generations and opening the door for them to take up their place in this continuum of information, research, and discovery. This system of education is renowned for its creativity and responsibility. All learning is paced for the individual child and facilitates the child's personal integrity concerning his or her own education. The classroom environment is noncompetitive, inclusive, and peaceful.
Today, educators are also articulating a vision of our future. This is not a spiritual vision; it is instead an economical one. It is a vision is based on beliefs and expectations for adult life during the 21st century. Tomorrow's child must now develop specific skills in order to experience successful living in a 21st century information-era global economy. For more than a decade, this vision has guided American education reform. Activities have included new legislation, national curriculum standards, and new measures of classroom performance.
