Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Montessori

From the Director:

The high level of academic achievement so common in Montessori schools is a natural outcome of experience in such a supportive environment. The Montessori method of education is a model which serves the needs of children of all levels of mental and physical ability as they live and learn in a natural, mixed-age group which is very much like the society they will live in as adults.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Each child's progress is closely monitored and recorded. Teachers are trained in how to work with the individual in order to bring out each child's potential.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

* To treat each child with respect

* To assist in the betterment of our community through service projects

* To create lifetime learners

* To ensure each child has the best school experience possible

* To teach children about tolerance, diversity and humanity

A Typical Day

At Mountain Heights Montessori School we provide instruction in five major areas: practical life, sensorial, mathematics, language and cultural. Our cultural area encompasses geography, history, music, art, movement and community. We provide a hands-on experience with the belief that children learn by doing. You will not see many “dittos” or paperwork as our learning is about process not product. Our materials and curriculum are all child centered and assist in children becoming independent, with little teacher instruction. It is in this way that children learn by doing, experiencing and self correcting.
