From the Director:

Our philosophy statement of "Growing Minds, Giving Hearts and Godly Character" helps to guide us as we design curricula and experiences that are age and developmentally appropriate and help children develop spiritually, socially and emotionally. We believe that children learn best when they explore their environment through open-ended and creative play opportunities. Our classrooms are designed to promote creative play and our teachers practice responsive teaching methods. Families are encouraged to be involved in their child's preschool experience through school events, classroom visits and various volunteer opportunities, as well as an active Parent Advisory Board.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Every child develops at his/her own pace and as teachers it our job to respect individual learning styles and each stage of development. We are here to support and encourage learning while respecting ability and readiness.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Long Hill Christian Preschool provides for the spiritual, as well as the physical, emotional and social needs of children. Staff members have a vital, personal faith in God, and seek to express that faith in all aspects of their relationships.
In an effort to encourage teachers and students to reach their full potential, we maintain a small teacher-child ratio. Usually no more that one-to-eight.

A Typical Day

In each classroom children participate in open play, circle time, library time, outdoor play on our beautiful playground or in our spacious gym, snack and music lessons.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We strongly encourage parents to become part of our school community and connect with one another. Some of the friendships formed in our hallways last a lifetime for both parents and children. There are many opportunities to connect with others and interact with our school's team. School and class newsletters are circulated monthly, weekly updates are provided, teachers are available before and after school for discussion as well as via email and phone. School reminders are sent via email as well. Children are provided with a school bag at the beginning of the year to assist with school/home communication.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Home visits by teachers
  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
