"The School's mission is: "To nurture a diverse community in the Episcopal tradition, encouraging spiritual growth, moral responsibility and academic excellence."
Statement of Purpose and Articulation of School Goals
The men and women who founded St. Andrew's Episcopal School wanted it to manifest in its life and program the faith that Jesus Christ is Lord. Accordingly, the School strives to enable each student to understand a sense of worth as children of God and as a part of God's creation. Because the norm of human life is comprehended in Christ's command to love one's neighbor as one's self, the School defines its purposes in terms of community and emphasizes the value of good manners, of caring for others, and of service and self-denial--all of which reflect the Christian ethic.
This purpose has permeated St. Andrew's since its beginning. However, the Board of Trustees has formulated and approved the following six goals which define further the School's mission:
To provide to academically motivated students a challenging college preparatory program comparable to programs offered by the best independent schools throughout the nation.
To provide a religious framework in the Episcopal tradition that stimulates spiritual growth in students, while being deeply respectful of the faiths of others.
To provide ethnic and cultural diversity throughout the St. Andrew's community.
To provide performing and visual arts experiences within the curriculum for all students.
To provide a broad range of competitive athletic programs for all students, not just the most talented athletes.
To provide training in service and leadership by creating opportunities for student involvement in the larger community, as well as in the day-to-day life of the School."
