"The mission of the Clinic is to provide a clinical/educational environment in which to train students enrolled in the programs of speech-language pathology, audiology and educational assessment and intervention services for persons who are deaf or hard of hearing. Under supervision, undergraduate and graduate students observe and participate in the assessment and management of disorders of communication which result from hearing loss or deficits in the production or reception of speech. The patient population served by the Clinic includes children and adults in the greater Springfield area. The goals of the Clinic are to:
1) provide a teaching clinic where students obtain practicum experiences to meet certification guidelines as specified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Council on Education of the Deaf in order to become certified in those areas upon graduation;
2) provide speech, language and hearing services to the surrounding community.
