Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

At Sunshine Kids Day Out, we will not focus on progress reports or comparing one child's performance to another....we will provide the materials and lessons appropriate for age level and let the child explore and learn at his/her own pace.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

We provide part-time childcare to children ages 2-5 on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at Harvester Church of the Nazarene. It is our goal to provide strong academic and Biblical teaching in a fun and safe atmosphere.

A Typical Day

open play time, Bible story/memory verse, circle time, recess in gym, lunch, finger plays/music, letter of the week/craft, recess outside, rest time, snack, review, dismiss

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We will hold an open house before the first day of school to introduce teachers and chidren to the classrooms. My office will be open on school days to meet with teachers and parents at any time. A child at Sunshine Kids Day Out will not be talked about in a negative manner. A child's successes or difficulties will be discussed with the Director and the parents only. A parent will be provided with a summary of the day's activities when the child is picked up.

Parents Say They are Encouraged to:

  • Are able to visit the school anytime we want

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation

Handling Separation: From the Director

A child who is having difficulty transitioning will be cared for and loved as much as one who transitions without difficulty. The child's parents, director and children's ministry staff will be available to provide one-on-one comfort until the child is comfortable in the classroom. If the problem persists, the parents and director will formulate a plan for transition to best suit the child.
