Our program uses several approaches to learning, however, play-based with some structure and teacher interaction when nessesary or desired are utilized as the foundation for the curriculum. Independence is highly encouraged.

Are goal is to work with children individually on a daily basis reguardless of individuality. We also include all children in activities and curriculium, teachers help as-needed. We also encourage other children to help as needed and to make sure everyone is treated equal.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our belief is that childen thrive in an environmet that has some type of structure. When children know what their boundaries, limits and expectactions are at an early age, it gives them a sense of security, and makes a good foundation. Children should always be told, as well as shown, that they are loved and cared for. This requires a lot of positive reinforcement and praise. Parents and caregivers alike should be good role models by having a positive attitude and admitting when they make a mistake. Discipline should be matter-of-fact and as brief as possible. Follow-through and consistency are of utmost importance. Children are our future; they deserve to be taken care of in a safe, loving, nurturing environment. We believe that this childcare philosophy helps children to grow into confident, loving, secure adults.

A Typical Day

Sample Daily Schedule

6:45-8:30 Children arrive, breakfast is served from 7:30-8:30. Children help with the clean-up and play with table toys, read books, or listen to story tapes until breakfast and clean-up are finished. Children wash hands before and after eating. School-Age children leave for school.

8:30-9:00 Infants and young toddlers are changed and put down to nap. Older toddlers and preschool children enjoy busy free choice activities or play time in the playroom. Children help clean-up after play time.

9:00-9:15 Group Time, prepare for the day (calendar, weather, morning songs, sharing time, etc.)

9:15-10:15 Activity Time: Activities, such as; (creative art, math, fine motor, gross motor, science, sensory, nutrition/cooking, social studies and dramatic play). As babies and young toddlers wake up they are brought in to join the other children.

10:15-10:30 Story Time (Children use the restroom and/or changed before going outside).

10:30-11:00 Outside Time (weather permitting) planned activities and/or independent play.

11:00-11:15 Transition Time (while teacher gathers lunch children have quiet time). Clean-up and wash hands for lunch.

11:15-11:45 Lunch, language and socialization are encouraged. After lunch, older children help put food away and clean up, hands are washed.

11:45-12:00 Group Time (music, exercise, movement, stretching)

12:00-12:30 Transition Time, children prepare for nap time/rest time. Children use the bathroom and/or diapers changed, teeth are brushed.

12:30-12:45 Story Time. KG children either arrive or leave for school.

12:45-3:15 Everyone (except, perhaps, for a baby who just woke up) has a rest period. Children sleep or listen to quiet music or story tapes. Children who can't sleep may look at books quietly on their cots.

3:15-3:30 As children wake up, diapers are changed, bathroom is used and hands are washed. Bedding is put away.

3:30-3:50 Children have snack together. Clean-up follows.

3:50-4:15 Activity Time (same as morning). School-Age children eat snack upon arrival. Followed by clean-up and preparing for outdoor play.

4:15-4:45 Outdoor Play (weather permitting). A special project may be planned. School-Age children join in if desired. Personal clean-up follows to prepare for going home.

4:45-5:00 Group Time (stories, puppets, songs, finger plays, etc.) School-Age children work on school projects.

5:00-5:30 Children go home at staggered times. Projects are assembled and parent information made ready. Children color, look at books and play with table toys until their parents have arrived. Events of the day and plans for the next day are discussed with children and parents as they depart.

Our goals are based on the belief that we all develop from watching, growing and by being given ample opportunities to explore, but, most importantly, by being enriched with love.

Our goals are:
*To provide a clean, loving, fun atmosphere that is designed to stimulate natural curiosity and self-expression by offering a wide variety of choices and developmentally appropriate hands-on experiences.

*To provide children with a program where they are never pushed beyond what they are capable of doing, yet are encouraged to try new things.

*To provide each child with the best learning
program possible by offering exciting activities that appeal to individual interests, needs and abilities and focus on the whole child.

*To provide children exploration thru an interesting, challenging and engaging environment, so they can learn about the world around them by seeing, tasting, touching and learning.

*To provide a well rounded curriculum that meets the cognitive, social, emotional and physical developmant of all children in care.

*To provide every child with daily individual attention and one-to-one time.

This is a year-round program that uses daily communication with parents as well as a daily report. Activites as well as meal are posted weekly. Newsletters and print out activities as well as outside program information is also utilized as another means of communication.

This program is open-ended and change is always welcome. Individual parent-teacher meetings will be addressed as well as more indepth goals for individual children.

There is no beginning of the year separation because students currently attend year-round.

Handling Separation: From the Director

We don't really have a problem with this, but we do give a lot of love and affection when needed.

Children go thru so many stages that is doesn't matter wether they have been with your program since infantcy or not. Some days are just harder then others for them or their going through a different stage in their development.
