General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led

From the Director:

Our approach is a sturctured day with plenty of time for play as well. We change our classroom environments, to fit our themes so that play is reinforcing our learning goals.

We take pride in the fact that all of our children, with parent cooperation, have moved successfully into the school aged classrooms. We are so proud of our alumni children

Day in the Life

General School Mission

The purpose of Mothers Day Out Preschool is to provide safe, self directed activities for preschool children so that parents may have free time for needs, interests, talents and employment. Our philosophy is to promote the social, emotional and intellectual developement of each child wth age appropriate learning opportunities. Our goal is to provide social experiences and hands on learning, in a caring loving and relaxed environment that will help prepare the child for school and to live in our world today.

A Typical Day

Each classroom has it's own routine,as we serve several ages. But generally, each child will enjoy an art activity, music, stories and books. The older children will have a structured circle time and the preK children also have a science activity at the end of their day. Our curriculum is theme based and all activities are age appropriate and child directed.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We have an ongoing communication with our parents. If they would like to have a conference with the teacher and director, we gladly agree to do so. We have an open house once a year and a school wide picnic. It is a fun way for parents to meet each other and to enjoy time with thier child , his/her friends and their teacher, in a relaxed fun way. We do an annual Trike a Thon for St. Judes children's research hospital and drives for the food bank as well.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation

Handling Separation: From the Director

We are dedicated to making sure that the parents and children feel safe at Mother's Day Out, by connecting with them in a fun and loving way. As children feel safe, they have very little separation anxiety. Until they know they are safe, we hold hem and love them and assure them that we will keep them safe until there parent returns. We have many "I love you rituals" that we play every day.
