"Mother Goose Time activities are developmentally appropriate - based on what a child can do and how the child learns at the stage of development of this age group. We strive to offer open-ended activities so that they can be valuable and enjoyed by the 2 1/2 year old or taken a step further and enjoyed equally as much by the 5 year old. The program is designed to help children grow and develop socially, physically and intellectually.
We agree with research which affirms that children learn most effectively through a concrete, play-oriented approach to early childhood education. We believe that children learn best through concrete experiences and active exploration - by "doing". Before children can do abstract pencil and paper work, they need to experience with real objects. For example, children need to experience a real car before they can use a block to represent one or have the idea of what a car does. Instead of circling a picture of a car on paper, children will learn more by experiencing a car ride. In addition, paper work does not always match the child's experience. That is, children might be asked to color grapes purple when they have only seen green ones.
With this philosophy, we at Mother
Goose Time Preschool have developed a program which provides these developmentally appropriate, concrete, hands-on activities because we know that
