Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

Teachable moments from 0-2 yrs Semi Structured Kindegarten Prep for 3-5yrs

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

I use alot of resources when helping parents decide how to help children who may have learning delays. Parents as teachers and Grace Early childhood Ctr are my resource for getting the help to enrich my practice here at the home daycare in order to meet each child's need. WIth a parent's permission and help, we can get them screened and find out what they might need help in, then my job as well as the parent's is to work together to help the child succeed.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

I have an open door/open phone policy. Parents have access to my home phone number or cell any time of day. As people arrive and depart I personally greet and send them off with details about their day and listen to what the parents concerns are. Every parent who walks thru my door is family to me. They adopt me as their surrogate momma to care for their precious ones, and I do not take that responcibility lightly.

Parents Say They are Encouraged to:

  • Are able to visit the school anytime we want
  • Go on field trips

Modes of Communication

  • Notes
  • Phone Calls
  • Voice Mail
  • Email
  • Special Meetings
  • Drop-Off
  • Pick-Up

Separation

Separation is Handled through:

  • Home visits by teachers
  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

I am an open book to helping transistions for each child. I have had parents spend half a day here, hanging out with me and their child. Some leave once they feel their kids are gonna be fine, some stay until they are ready to leave at lunchtime.
I also can make home visits, and alter the schedule to better suit the child's comfort for a transistional period.
