"New Horizon has made the commitment to go beyond "good" to being the "best." For us, being the "best" means promoting excellence. The focus of every decision we make is to promote self-esteem. Some examples include:
To foster self-esteem in infants, we always give them choices. This promotes their emerging sense of self.
To foster self-esteem in toddlers, we have designed facilities where they are able to master tasks in their environment. This allows them to say, "I can do it!"
To foster self-esteem in preschoolers, we created a curriculum which helps develop their emerging intellectual curiosity through the exploration of language, dramatic play, math, science, and other fun activities. This helps them understand that they are bright and capable.
To foster self-esteem in school age children, we provide ongoing enrichments through projects and field trips designed to explore the world. This helps them grow into self-confident and independent adults.
Every decision we make, from choosing toys and books to designing classrooms and buildings, is based on promoting the self-esteem of the children entrusted to our care. We are committed to a world of excellence where every child is able to say "I like me!"
Our Commitment to Early LearningEmily
Child development experts now confirm what New Horizon Academy has always known. The first five years of life are crucial to a child's self-esteem, brain development and learning potential. Child development researchers validate the importance of the early years in the development of a child's physical, emotional, social and cognitive capabilities. Something as simple as a game of peek-a-boo can actually cause physical changes in the brain, affecting how its intricate circuitry is "wired." In a matter of seconds, thousands of cells in a child's growing brain respond. Some brain cells are "turned on," activated by this particular experience, some existing connections among brain cells are strengthened. At the same time, new connections are formed, adding a bit more definition to the circuitry that will largely remain in place for life. An early education that combines stimulating activity with loving attention enables a young child to become emotionally secure, socially competent, and intellectually capable. As educators of young children, we recognize our role in affecting how children's brains develop. We are committed to this crucial period of growth.
We also believe that the exploration, investigation and interaction that takes place when children play is a critical part of development and learning. In order to support the play and development of children, New Horizon Academy has created unique curriculum programs for the children in our care.
Our Commitment to Cleanliness
New Horizon Academy is committed to providing a clean, safe, healthy, and organized environment for the children in our care. Cleanliness is an important component in the growth and development of young children. The process of creating and exploring can sometimes be messy. Our carefully designed classrooms allow for easy clean up. All toys and equipment are sanitized at least weekly. Infant and toddler toys are sanitized daily. In addition, New Horizon Academy employs a team of cleaning specialists who ensure that our high quality standards of cleanliness are consistently maintained at each New Horizon Academy center. New Horizon Academy also follows strict guidelines for food preparation and hand-washing methods, and educates staff to model and teach healthy hygiene practices to the children."
