Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Children at Cobber Kids Corner are provided with daily opportunities in which they can actively learn about themselves and the world around them. This is accomplished through a combination of developmentally appropriate large and small group activities, free play, outdoor play and walks.
A routine that is consistent from day to day lets children know what to expect and helps them feel secure in their environment. Teachers let children know what behaviors are appropriate in a given situation. Children are praised for positive behavior and given choices and consequences for inappropriate behavior. Our Child Care Program Plan (on file in the Director’s Office) explains
our curriculum and educational philosophy in more detail, and can be reviewed at your request."

A Typical Day

"Infant daily schedule :
7-8 a.m.: daily welcome/free play
8-8:30 a.m.: table food breakfast/bottles
8:30-9 a.m.: clean up and diapering
9-10:30 a.m.: naps if needed/music and language activities
10:30-11:15 a.m.: large motor/outdoor play (weather permitting)
11:15-noon: table food lunch/bottles and jar food for younger children
noon-12:30 p.m.: clean up and diapering
12:30-2 p.m.: naps if needed/large motor and sensory activities
2-3 p.m.:fine motor activities and diapering
3-3:30 p.m.: snack
3:30-4 p.m.: clean up and diaper checks
4-5:30 p.m.: free play and diaper checks at the ed of the day
7:00-7:45 Greeting and free self directed play
8:00-8:30 Breakfast served and personal care (teeth brushing, diaper changes, toileting)
8:30-9:30 Cognitive and manipulatives
9:30-9:45 Toy clean-up time
9:45-10:00 Finger plays and literature
10:00-10:30 Small group activities and exploration time (inside and /or outside)
10:30-11:00 Clean-up, music and personal care
11:00-11:15 Washing hands for lunch
11:15-11:45 Lunch served
11:45-12:30 Personal care (toileting, diaper changes and brushing teeth)
12:30-2:30 Rest time (quiet music and relaxation time)
2:30-3:00 Personal care and quiet play as children awaken
3:00-3:30 Snack served
3:30-4:00 Finger plays and literature
4:00-4:30 Small group activities and exploration time (inside and/or outside)
4:30-4:45 Clean-up, diaper changing, cognitive and manipulatives
5:00-5:30 Free self-directed play and goodbye
7:00-8:30 Greeting and self interest time
7:15-8:30 Breakfast served (please arrive before 8:30 if your child needs breakfast)
8:30 Breakfast is cleaned up /Personal care (brushing teeth and bathroom)
8:45-9:00 Carpet areas are picked up/table activities are provided
9:00 Circle time (language arts, music)
9:15-10:00 Center activities, teacher and self directed (art, pre-math, science, cognitive,
manipulatives, sensory and exploration)
10:15-11:15 large motor/in/outside play (tricycles, balls, slides or sensory)
11:15-11:30 Reading time/transition to lunch
11:30-12:15 Lunch is served, hand washing and personal care
(Please arrive by 11:30 if your child needs lunch)
12:15-12:30 Quiet music, books or appropriate video
12:30-3:00 Nap/Rest time/Quiet table activities, books and personal care
3:00 Circle time (language arts/music)
3:30-4:15 Group activities - see morning schedule
4:15 Personal Care
4:15-5:30 Outdoor play or self interest time
