General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

We believe that young children learn best through play. The activities that we provide for the children are fun but while they are participating, they are also learning important skills. The teachers lead some learning but also interact with the children while they are playing asking questions and giving information which helps the kids think, learn more, and process what they are learning.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"When kids walk through the doors of Elim Preschool (also known as Elim Nursery School), we want them to know one thing for sure: they are special and loved. A caring, accepting atmosphere is an essential starting place for all learning, and at Elim we value each child's unique make-up of experiences, cultural background, strengths, and challenges. We're proud of the diversity of students in our program, because of the richness it brings to all the children.
We provide developmentally appropriate activities that draw on children's natural curiosity and lead them to new understandings and skills. We place a high value on equipping students to learn in all areas, especially in pre-reading and writing skills and in autonomy and social skills
