Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Our philosophy at Hunt School is to nurture awareness within each of our
students that education is a necessity for being a productive citizen. We develop this awareness by incorporating parents, teachers and students into a working community based upon the policies set forth by our Board of Education.
The administration and faculty endeavor to teach and show through
example and attitude that "excellence" in education is our ultimate goal.
The Hunt School staff is committed to high achievement for all students,
as well as providing a positive and pleasant environment conducive to learning.
Therefore, the elementary school curriculum must direct the progress of children
in the acquisition of knowledge and basic skills. The curriculum will provide for an orderly progression throughout a sequence of developmental activities designed to improve the achievement of your child.
Another function of the school is to address the social and emotional
needs of a developing personality. We feel it is important to enhance each
child’s feeling of self worth. We strive to help students to develop the skills
necessary for living and working with others as well as nurture an awareness and appreciation for the various roles necessary for being productive in our everchanging world."
