Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based, Teacher-Led, Montessori

From the Director:

We use a combination of approaches in our preschool program.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Children learn at their own pace. We make every effort to be aware of where a child is at, and to accomodate his/her rate of learning. Children learn "hands-on" and we give them many opportunities to learn in this manner.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our philosophy is simple. Do what is in the best interest of the child. Treat children with love and respect. Prepare them for elementary school and beyond. Love them for who they are. Be patient and kind. Keep an open dialogue with parents.

A Typical Day

Free choice play in the morning, following by music, story time, movement, and learning centers. We play outdoors daily. Emphasis is on the whole child, and preparing preschool children for the demands of elementary school, all the while keeping it FUN.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We connect with the parents daily via verbal conversations, and a daily note. Parents are in constant contact with the directors, as well as the other teachers, because the directors teach full time.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Small group sessions
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Parents in classroom early on
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year

Handling Separation: From the Director

We anticipate some of the separation anxiety issues at the beginning of the year. The parents are encouraged to do whatever it takes to make their child comfortable. Teachers are nurturing, understanding, and loving to ensure that the child transitions into the preschool setting. It may take some time, but children come to love our program! It's fun....and they realize that pretty quickly!
