Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"It is the policy of this preschool to provide a developmental program for preschool children in the community. The child grows in the areas of social, emotional, cognitive, and motor development while engaged in both free play in a planned environment and a structured activity time. Through this type of an environment, we feel the child will have a positive preschool experience, which will lead to a more successful formal school experience.

Our teaching philosophy at Crosshill is to provide an exciting, fun atmosphere with some structured and "free choice" play activities which offer a variety of learning experiences. Daily routines are formed which help each child learn good habits and to follow direction. Learning Units are set up for a two to three week period. All of the daily events which include free choice play, art, music, stories, snacks and gym are centered around these units.
