General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Live & Learn Preschool is a vibrant community of educators and families, who believe that each generation of children has the opportunity to remake the world it inherits.

We cultivate and honor children's innate love of learning as they prepare for a life of purpose, integrity, and academic accomplishment.

Live & Learn students gain the skills and confidence to meet the challenges of self, family, community, and the world at large.

A Typical Day

The main objective of Live & Learn Preschool is to provide a carefully planned, stimulating environment which will help children develop within themselves the foundational habits, attitudes, skills, and ideas which are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning.

The specific goals for the children who attend are:

To develop a positive attitude toward school and learning

To develop a sense of high self-esteem

To develop habits of concentration for lifelong study skills

To develop and foster an abiding curiosity

To develop habits of initiative and persistence

To foster inner discipline and a sense of order

To develop sensory-motor skills in order to sharpen the ability to discriminate and judge

To develop socially acceptable behavior

To acquire the basic skills necessary for a lifetime of learning

To help develop each child's innate, ultimate potential through high self-expectations

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We provide a daily activites calendar, including weekly themes in the school entry. Parent-teacher meetings and three-way (parent, teacher, child) conferences are held twice a year. A parent lending library is available to parents who wish to read up on child development. Each theme is accompanied by an idea list for parents to do at home with their child. Our website has a parents-only forum to keep abreast of school events and happenings, as well as a password-protected forum for private and direct parent-school communication.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Small group sessions
  • Parents in classroom early on
