Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Pine Grove Child Development Center is a developmental, discovery-oriented preschool dedicated to peace and to teaching respectful ways of resolving conflict. We are deeply committed to individualized, child-centered learning and believe that young children learn best when they are stimulated to explore a rich array of hands-on materials at their own pace
To provide an environment for children that stimulates a love of learning.

To support curiosity and encourage children to discover and develop their own unique talents and strengths.

To foster independence, confidence, and a strong self-image.

To help children develop positive social skills, make friends, and learn to be part of a classroom community.

To help children learn to make independent work choices and to develop concentration through repeated experiences with materials.

To help children refine body movements and develop a solid sense of themselves within their physical environment.

To foster a caring and respectful attitude toward ourselves, each other, our classroom and materials, and the large natural and global environment in which we live.
