From the Director:

Our program follows the Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR) and uses the Opening the World of Learning curriculum (ages 3 and 4) and the Let's Begin with the Letter People curriculum (age 3).

From the Director:

Our program, because it is within a larger elementary school setting, is highly aware of what skills and abilities children need to have developed in preschool to be ready for kindergarten and beyond. Our preschool program is designed to prepare children to be successful students using methods and activities that are developmentally appropriate.

Home-School Connection: From the Director

In addition to our weekly newsletter and parent website (http://www,sfismd.orgt) all teachers are available at drop-off and pick-up, all teachers have school email addresses, and the school has to parent-teacher conference days each year. There is an active parent organization which provides a forum for parents and hosts numerous events throughout the year to allow parents to get to know one another.


Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school
  • Extra staff dedicated to handle separation
  • Abbreviated schedule at start of school year
