"Since 1965, our mission has never varied: we are dedicated to the development of the whole child. Our skilled faculty, time-tested curriculum, warm family atmosphere - and even the innovative physical layout of the school itself - all contribute to the social physical, intellectual, and emotional development of our students.
Our philosophy is based on two convictions: that every child attending the Geneva Day School is an enormously capable learner, and every child learns in their own way and at their own pace. Our school's mission, consequently, is to provide an environment of love, security, acceptance, and success; a warm, caring place in which children feel supported and encouraged to explore new worlds of learning. Specifically we seek to:
. Create a range of individual and group activities that are appropriate to the developmentof each child.
. Help each child develop a positive self-image an a positive attitude toward school and learning.
. Assist each child in developing good expressive and receptive language skills, sensory-perceptual skills, gross and fine motor skills, and other skills necessary for effective interpersonal relationships.
. Aid each child in achieving a sense of independence, self-reliance, and individual responsibility.
. Work in harmony with parents to help them understand their child's intellectual, emotional, social and physical development, and to provide supportive services if needed.
