Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

Developmentally appropriate curriculum and activities.

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Small class size and two teachers in each class allow us to gear activities to each child's needs.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Our experienced teachers make each child feel comfortable and create a community of learners.

A Typical Day

Every student receives a calendar each month, so parents know what the theme of the day will be. We begin with group circle time, then have free choice, teacher directed small group activity, and arts and crafts, all related to the theme of the day. Story time, snack and outside play complete the day

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Parents receive a calendar and newsletter each month which include dates to remember, words to poems and songs we are learning and curriculum areas we will be working on each month. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice each year. Parents are encouraged to join us in the classroom at any time. Parents and teachers have a daily opportunity to speak at arrival and dismissal. Yearly Moms Night Out Party in the fall to facilitate Moms getting to know the other parenst in the school.

Separation is Handled through:

  • Pre-entry meetings with parents at school

Handling Separation: From the Director

Our first day of school is an Orientation session. Parents and children attend together. Parents get to see what a day at preschool is like and the children have the comfort of having their parent with them on their first day. After the Orientation day the teacher greets the children at their cars and brings them into school in small groups. We find this alleviates most separation anxiety.
