From the Director:

Our philosophy is that children at this age learn best through play and social interaction. Through hands on experiences and lots of interactive dialog, we foster children's natural sense of wonder and provide them with the necessary skills to be ready to enter kindergarten. The owner/director is certified in the techniques of the Maryland Model for School Readiness, and guides teachers in curriculum planning to include meaningful learning experiences that encompass all areas of growth and development -- social & emotional, language, science, social studies, mathematics, physical, and the arts. From the teacher's perspective, activities have a purpose and planning is intentional. In the eyes of the children, school is a fun and welcoming place to play with their friends!

General School Mission

The Learning Cottage is committed to providing quality early childhood education to preschool aged children in our community. We create meaningful learning experiences in a nurturing and stimulating environment, where children feel welcomed and are encouraged to learn through play by:

Exploring
Asking questions
Making choices
Using their senses
Solving problems
Expressing their feelings

At The Learning Cottage, our qualified and loving teachers work closely with parents to help each child develop socially, emotionally, physically, intellectually, and creatively. We believe in fostering each child’s natural sense of wonder and promoting a lifetime love of learning.
