"The mission of Cambridge Day School is to foster a globally oriented education in the context of warm community environment. Cambridge Day School offers a Montessori-based curriculum, and its teachers are credentialed in Montessori education as well as in Maryland State teaching requirements. Annual, Montessori-based continuing education is mandated for all teaching staff.
Academic Goals: The teachers, staff and volunteers of CDS work together to provide an academically-enriched environment that awaken the natural senses of self-worth, wonder and confidence inherent in each child. The school’s structured, individually-paced learning activities and experiences encourage each child to develop strong skills in the areas of creativity, observation, evaluation, and decision-making, and also to build the social and cognitive foundations necessary for academic achievement throughout the elementary years and beyond.
Personal Development Goals: A principal aim of our programs is to develop early appreciation for the diverse backgrounds, experiences and talents of others, and to teach both attitudes and behaviors that reflect respect and concern for all members of the school community as well as for family and friends. The school offers a small, family-like environment in which each child learns not only to attend to the needs of his or her own person, but to take on responsibilities and activities that enhance the functioning of the overall school community. As an independent school, Cambridge Day School is not affiliated with either church or state, and does not receive funding from either of these sources.
