A Typical Day

"The child and parent are warmly greeted as they arrive.
The child hangs up his/her sweater, coat and tote bag. If the child stays for lunch he/she puts the lunchbox on the shelf.
The child will choose work that she/he has had a lesson in. The child has been shown how to take work out and return it to the self.
Snack is open. Each child takes turns bringing in a snack for the whole class.
Meeting Place: circle time, calendar, weather, music and conversation.
Lessons on new materials. Each day emphasizes one area, Practical Life, Sensorial, Math Science, Language or Art/Culture.
Guests, parents or a paid entertainer often come to Small World to provide enriching activities.
Go Outdoors
AM Children go home at 11:30
Lunch time 11:45 - 12:30
Rest Time for younger children 12:30 - 1:00. (Mandated by the state)
In the afternoon the younger children use Montessori materials, complete art project, have music and participate in outdoor socialization.
Kindergarden class meets in the afternoon on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The kindergarden children work on Montessori math extensions, advanced language curriculum, a detailed reading system, Journals and seasonal projects.
