Philosophy & Approach

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"The ages between three and five are an important time in a child's life to learn cooperative behaviors and develop social skills. During this critical time, we at Southborough Village Preschool want to serve as a bridge between the home and the time when your child enters kindergarten. We provide more than just an education; we nurture while teaching.
Our integrated, hands-on, discovery-based curriculum promotes self-esteem, creativity, and social interaction skills that are crucial to the child's overall development. Our experienced teachers understand the developmental needs of the children. They consistently provide a wealth of materials and a variety of play areas, so that your child learns as s/he is active.
The thematic curriculum is designed to help children develop language, social, physical, and cognitive skills in a positive, hands-on, discovery-based setting. We recognize that working closely with parents is necessary to attain these goals.

A Typical Day

"A typical day begins with a circle time for sharing and small group discussion. This is followed by an hour of discovery time, which includes art, science, and math activities, as well as home-making, dress-up, and manipulatives. Next, we have snack time, music and story. Sessions end with outdoor play in our playground, which is designed to stimulate gross motor activities.
