Philosophy & Approach

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Our staff respects, appreciates and care for children as individuals as well as encourage children's independence and self-control. We take children from where they are at entrance and help them to the next step in their growth and development; socially, emotionally and academically through a variety of group and individual learning experiences.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

We base our philosophy on the theory that children are active learners. The environment that we provide is one in which childen are learning through discovery and exploration. The focus of our program is a child centered, developmental approach to learning for the the child while responding to the needs of the family.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

We communicate with parents daily at both drop off and pick up times. Each month a claendar and newsletter goes home describing what theme and activities that we will be exploring for the month. Often, depending on the theme, we will ask the child to work with their family on a project to bring into school Usually this involves sending in pictures, drawing a picture, or sharing a favorite book. We hold parent conferences twice a year as well as hosting and open house night for parents only.

Handling Separation: From the Director

We hold a visiting day prior to the start of school so that the children can visit with their teachers and explore the room with their parents in attendance. On the first day of school the children are encouraged to join in an activity with a teacher and other children. We build a trust with the children individually so that they feel comfortable staying at school. Separation difficulties are handled on an individual basis as not all children respond to the same techniques.
