Philosophy & Approach

School Philosophy

General Approach to Learning: Play-Based

From the Director:

It's Friday late morning and the Nursery School hallways are abuzz with the excitement of Shabbat. Cantor Ken has his guitar ready and children can't wait to hear both new and familar creative songs, like the one about the dinosaur getting ready to spend Shabbat with them, After thirteen years here, I'm thrilled that as the new director of the Judy Gordon Nursey School, I still get to experience the cozy feeling of children gathered on a classroom rug to celebrate Shabbat together. The view from my office is different than the view from the classroom, but I'm excited about both continuity of programs and future opportunities that I see from where I'm sitting. My door is always open, and I want the school community to approach me with questions, concerns, or suggestions. I look forward to sharing in your child's journey at the Judy Gordon Nursery School and continuing to make their experience full of playful challenges.

General School Mission

"Our program is based on the needs of the individual child. We believe that children learn best through play and experimentation. Therefore, we provide a variety of experiences through which the children develop new skills and build self-confidence as they grow and mature.
