General Approach to Learning: Montessori

Day in the Life

General School Mission

"Longmeadow Montessori strives to be a physically and emotionally safe environment where students and staff members are each loved, nurtured, challenged and encouraged to reach their true potential. LMI strives to foster creativity, independence, self-confidence, self-esteem and a basic love of learning. We will do this by setting firm boundaries and encouraging freedom and exploration within those boundaries. LMI is a place where learning is an exciting process that involves the total self and illuminates the world in which we live. The role of teacher is that of a guide and facilitator in this quest for knowledge. The goal of the teacher is to prepare the children for everyday life and for their next step: elementary school.

We offer both pre-school and kindergarten programming which is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and The Department of Early Education and Care (EEC).

Our goal is to provide a hands on learning environment. Children are encouraged to be creative and follow their natural curiosity about the world in which they live. The LMI program is designed to foster confidence, independence and a strong sense of self.

We want your child to walk out our door saying "I can do it myself."
