General Approach to Learning: Montessori

From the Director:

We have a mixed age classroom of 3 to 6 year olds. There is a good mix of free play with some structure and teacher lessons. Structure is derived also by the daily schedule and the materials in the classroom.

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Provide extra attention. Provide special activities. Provide activities for different learning styles. Arrange and/or rearrange the environment to accommodate the chid.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

To help children learn and develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills in an environment that is child oriented, non-competitive and respectful of children and adults. Through carefully planned activities, carefully designed materials, social interaction and in the presence of caring and enthusiastic adults who act as facilitators, each child will develop a positive self-image in an atmosphere of being recognized, cared for and loved.

Home-School Connection

Home-School Connection: From the Director

Prospective parents are invited to the annual open house in order to observe the classroom with children presently enrolled. A Parents' Night to discuss curriculum and philosophy is scheduled for mid to late September. Formal Parent/Teacher conferences are held twice each year.

Handling Separation: From the Director

We have a phase-in period for new students with shortened hours. We welcome a parent to stay in the classroom until the child can begin to trust staff.
