General Approach to Learning: Montessori

Quality of Teaching

Individualized Teaching: From the Director

Montessori caters to the needs of every individual child. It is the only early childhood method that requires a separate training and credential for certification. Montessori teachers are trained to create materials for individual students in the class (above and beyond the wealth of Montessori materials) upon careful observation of each child's way of moving, understanding of literacy or math concepts or sense of space with the geography, etc.

Day in the Life

General School Mission

Montessori is one of the oldest of educational philosophies and the original "child-directed" philosophy of early education. In Montessori "following the child" is not merely a mantra but an expression of a method studied for hundreds of hours by teachers working towards their Montessori certification. Montessori is both a philosophy and a set of materials specific to Montessori that were developed with careful analytics by an M.D., Ph.D. At the Torit School, we follow the Montessori method, analyze the efficacy of our teaching constantly and complement all of this with introduction to the foreign languages and cultures of Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and Arabic (modern standard) from infancy through kindergarten and, soon, beyond. We have extremely well-educated staff, rarely using assistant teachers in our School. Finally, we work hard to create options that serve two-parent working families. We have an enrollment rather than an admissions process. If you want your child with us, we want your child with us!
