"We believe that MSU Evening Care Preschool and Primary Program should be first and foremost a safe place for all children and adults as the program is offered in the evening from 3:30 pm – 9:30 pm four nights a week. We believe that the curriculum should be enriching and developmentally appropriate for all children from toddlers to school age and one that emphasizes the holistic development of children. The curriculum is designed to foster the social, emotional, cognitive and adaptive, creative, and physical development in children with and without disabilities. Learning centers are set up in the classroom to help facilitate the development of skills important to children's overall growth and development. We believe that learning primarily occurs through play.
It is our belief that children are influenced by and influence their environment. To enhance children's overall development, it is important to provide them with a nurturing environment as well as to encourage positive interactions between their environments such as home and school.
Further, we believe that the environment should be relaxing as most children who attend ECPPP do so after spending a full day at school and/or other childcare facilities The concept of ECPPP fits the latest trend of nontraditional childcare hours. Technically there can be 15 hours of care in a child's day and ECPPP is the last 5 hours. It is the belief of the ECPPP to make these last hours in a child's day pleasant. It is the belief of ECPPP to enhance the lives of young children and their families.
